Why Zing exists

Two problems, one directory.

Zing is a directory, not a marketplace. We don't sell anything, take a commission, or stand between you and the person you're buying from.

1

You want to buy from a real person

You already want to shop small. The problem is that finding someone you can trust takes a weekend you don't have — so you end up back on Amazon by default, not by preference.

Zing is a short, checked list instead of an endless one. Filter by who owns the business and how things are made, find someone two miles away, and go.

For values-led shoppers who want the gift to actually mean something.

2

You make something and nobody can find it

If your shop has no front door, there's nowhere to be found. A marketplace buries you under ten thousand others; a feed only shows you to the people already following you.

Zing is a discovery channel beyond your own audience. No commission, no ads, no paying to rank higher — and online-only businesses belong here just as much as storefronts.

For solo makers with no storefront and no marketing budget.

Our story

Zing started with a stay-at-home mom and a side hustle.

The idea was the easy part. What came after wasn't. Every search for "how to start" turned up advice that contradicted the last thing I'd read, and none of it told me what to actually do on Monday morning. The questions I really had felt too small to bother a business coach with, and too big to work out on my own.

I assumed the people a few steps ahead had it figured out. They didn't. They had followers and steady sales and no more answers than I did — and no way to turn I have an audience into I have a community.

What was missing was never information. There's plenty of that. It was people: somewhere to get an honest answer from someone one step ahead, and to be that person for someone one step behind.

Straight answers for business owners

How do I get listed?

Fill in one questionnaire. We build your page and put it in the directory, and point you at the groups and events worth your time.

How does this affect my sales?

People find you who weren't already following you. No algorithm, no ad spend, no bidding against a chain for your own name.

Why would I pay for this?

Right now you wouldn't. The first 100 businesses are free for life — locked in. We may charge new listings after that; you'd keep your rate.

I don't have a storefront.

Good — that's who this was built for. Online-only, markets-only and by-appointment businesses are listed the same way as anyone with a door.
